What does Refurbished really mean? 2013-10-04T16:48:02+00:00

Be under no illusion, these machines are (unless otherwise stated) second user, although we like to say ‘Recycled’. All our laptops have come from the corporate business environment and have been carefully selected for their reliability and quality of build and specification. All units are bought in a clean, working condition with all data removed. They are then professionally checked over and reinstalled with an operating system. Just to be extra sure, we thoroughly check them over again once they arrive with us.

Why buy a Refurbished Laptop? 2013-10-04T16:47:25+00:00

Even if you put the ‘green’ argument aside just for a minute, the financial implications of buying a refurbished laptop are just as pertinent After years of working with refurbished equipment, we have learnt which brands to trust. Manufacturers such as Lenovo (IBM), HP and Dell are still very much the corporate choice due to their robust and durable nature.

Costing well in excess of £1000 2 or 3 years ago, these refurbished models can be purchased at a fraction of the price and still offer superb reliable performance. Our laptops start at just over £100 and we aim to offer quality notebooks to suit every budget.

The equipment we sell may well be second hand, and we are the first to admit that there are brand new machines available on the High Street for similar money. They are however invariably made from cheap componants, lack design and build quality and often seem to have a limited shelf life.

Do you sell new laptops? 2013-10-04T16:46:47+00:00

At Ethical IT we strive to offer green laptop solutions to our customers and so the majority of our main stock is refurbised. We do however recognise that our machines are sometimes a few years old and your requirement might be for something with a bit more punch. Through our network of suppliers, we can always source you High End, new laptops and supply them at trade price. If you have a specific requirement, try us out – we endevour to be competitive.

Who do you sell to? 2017-04-24T11:00:34+00:00

At Ethical IT we do not have ideas above our station. We are not set on world domination just yet. We are predominantly a local company and many of our customers and clients are Bathonians, Bristolians and all in between. We are huge supporters of local businesses, schools and charities and will always strive to offer deals and discounts to make the most of your IT budget. That said, we welcome enquiries from Walcot Street to Wellington, Temple Meads to Timbuktu.

What warranty is offered? 2017-06-23T15:36:36+00:00

All of our laptops have a 12 Month Return to Base (RTB) warranty (unless otherwise stated) from receipt (excluding batteries) on any faults arising. The customer is responsible for all carriage costs back to The EIT Co. We select our products for reliability and durability and feel confident that as long as don’t drop the thing, these machines have a good deal of life left in them – much of the time more than cheap new consumer models bought on the High Street. Some of our equipment can also have an extended RTB warranty of 3 years for £35. This will be clearly stated.

What warranty do you offer on Laptop batteries? 2013-10-04T16:35:26+00:00

Batteries are not covered by our warranty. Although laptop batteries are rechargeable, over time being used off the mains they simply run down. We always check batteries before we send laptops out, and you should be able to expect a battery life of around 30 minutes. For best results however, you should run your laptop of the mains whenever possible. We can of course always source you any battery you may need.
