FAQs

Be under no illusion, these machines are (unless otherwise stated) second user, although we like to say ‘Recycled’. All our laptops have come from the corporate business environment and have been carefully selected for their reliability and quality of build and specification. All units are bought in a clean, working condition with all data removed. They are then professionally checked over and reinstalled with the latest version of Windows. All you need to do is pop in your details to finish the Windows setup.

Even if you put the ‘green’ argument aside for just for a minute, the financial implications of buying a refurbished laptop are just as pertinent. After years of working with refurbished equipment, we have learnt which brands to trust. Manufacturers such as Lenovo, HP and Dell are still very much the corporate choice due to their robust and durable nature.

Costing well in excess of £1000 2 or 3 years ago, these refurbished models can be purchased at a fraction of the price and still offer superb reliable performance. Our laptops usually start at just over £249 and we aim to offer quality notebooks to suit every budget.

The equipment we sell may well be second hand, and we are the first to admit that there are brand new machines available on the High Street for similar money. They are however invariably made from cheap componants, lack design and build quality and often seem to have a limited shelf life.

Yes. All of our laptops have a 12 Month Return to Base (RTB) warranty from receipt (excluding batteries) on any faults arising. In the unlikely event a fault arises in 7 days of receipt, we will organise collection of your laptop. After that the customer is responsible for all carriage costs back to The EIT Co. We select our products for reliability and durability and feel confident that as long as don’t drop the thing, these machines have a good deal of life left in them – much of the time more than cheap new consumer models bought on the High Street. You can also upgrade you warranty to 3 years RTB for £35.

Grade A
This grade represents the majority of our range – you get a fully working machine with possibly the odd mark on the lid or keyboard but certainly no marks or scratches on the screen. To be honest, a lot of the time it’s hard to tell it’s a second user machine!

Grade B
For those users who are happy to have some slight reduction in finish in order to save a few pennies. Purely Cosmetic that in no way affect usability or functionality – May have faint scratches on screen or minor scratches on upper plastics. Certainly no broken plastics.

Grade B+
Funnily enough, somewhere between Grade A & Grade B.

No. Batteries are not covered by our warranty. Although laptop batteries are rechargeable, over time being used off the mains they simply run down. We always check batteries before we send laptops out, and you should be able to expect a battery life of around 30 minutes. For best results however, you should run your laptop of the mains whenever possible. We can of course always source you any battery you may need.

We offer free shipping on all of our laptops. We aim to ship all orders within 5 working days (Monday – Friday) of receiving cleared funds, however we will endevour to dispatch your goods sooner. We will only deliver to addresses with a UK Postcode. We are unable to deliver outside of the UK. If paying by Credit or Debit card, we will only deliver to the registered card holders address. If we are sourcing you particular equipment that we don’t stock, shipping may take a little longer. Whatever the case, we will keep you posted via email or phone as to the progress of your order – I think they call it old fashioned courtesy!
